High Flying Gymnasts in Derby City!

This week has been a good one for gymnasts in Derby with success coming for participants in different age groups on both a local and County-wide scale!

Firstly, teams representing the City East and West School Sport Partnerships were competing in the County Finals at Queens Park Leisure Centre on Wednesday 8th February and gained some fantastic results.

Individually, Chloe Gilman (Lees Brook) and Megan Dobrzycki (West Park) came 1st and 2nd respectively in the Level 1 Competition whilst in the Level 2 event, Darci Coltman from Lees Brook (4th) and Charlotte Geeves (7th), Charlotte Wray (8th) and Melissa Wray (10th) all from West Park finished in the top 10.

In the team standings the City East team came in overall 3rd in the Level 1 Competition and WON the Level 2. This meant that in the overall County Competition the City East were 2nd, closely behind the South Derbyshire team.

CONGRATULATIONS to everyone that took part!

As if to show that the future for Gymnastics in Derby is bright, the Year 3 and 4 City event was held on Thursday 9th February at Springwood Leisure Centre.

In an event of a very high standard, the individual awards went to:

GOLD - Ami Bate (Chadd Park Aces)

SILVER - May Wilson (Mickleover Primary)

BRONZE - Joe Sharratt (Chadd Park Aces)

The 1,2,3 in the team event was:

GOLD - Chadd Park Aces

SILVER - Bishop Lonsdale

BRONZE - Mickleover Primary

Once again, CONGRATULATIONS to ALL participants and a big THANKYOU to the Young Leaders from West Park and Woodlands Schools for judging and SSP members Maggie Petrie, Pat Carroll and Jan Archer for their much appreciated help!
