First week of March already, and what a way to start the month.

On Tuesday 5th we were at Moorways for our Primary Duathlon event with Cycle Derby. The event saw 7 schools (Cavendish Close Junior, Homefields Primary, Mickleover Primary, 2x Silverhill Primary, Meadow Farm Primary and Ashwood Spencer Academy) compete across 5 races (Boys, Girls, Mixed and 2 relays). Points were awarded to each rider dependent on where they finished in each race, then scores were collated across the five races. After the results were added up the top three from the morning finished as:

1st – Silverhill A

2nd – Cavendish Close Junior

3rd – Mickleover Primary

Well done to all cyclists involved.

Silverhill - Prim. Duathlon

Cav Close - Prim. Duathlon

Then the week finished with our flagship event – Celebration of Dance – on both Thursday and Friday. We had 58 performances spread across 4 sessions, with over 1000 participants and around 900 spectators. This year’s theme was No. 1’s so schools danced to songs from across the ages, 1960’s to 2018. Tunes from the likes of Bewitched, The Greatest Showman and Dolly Parton were among the events soundtrack. Each event started with a warm-up delivered by The One School of Dance which saw the whole auditorium get up and get active, we were even lucky enough to have a special visit from the Mayor. We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who got involved (DCCT, The One School of Dance, John and Chris as well as the team from the Riverside Centre) for helping the event run so well.

Many of the group photos from last week’s Celebration of Dance are available to view at . If you wish to access further photos, please email liam.drake@dcct.co.uk.

Please be patient with us re: videos & we will get these sorted ASAP.
