Mickleover and Markeaton make Gym Finals

Wednesday 4th February saw Derby City SSP take over Mickleover Gymnastics Club as our annual Year 3/4 Key Steps Compeition took place with teams looking to make it through to the County Finals.

After a morning and afternoon session involving more than 15 teams Markeaton A Team took the Gold Award with Mickleover A Team following them into Silver and joining them at the next stage.

Schools chance to #BeBrave with NFL in Derby

On Thursday 5th February five schools in Derby City took part in our first ever American “Flag” Football Festival in association with the Derby Braves Team based at the University. Following on from the success of the sell out games at Wembley and the excitement around the Superbowl we are looking to bring the USA’s favourite sport closer to home with this and future events.

Ewe Rams Secure Prestige Fixtures

As part of their 25th Anniversary celebrations Derby County Ladies FC are proud to announce that reigning WSL champions, Liverpool LFC will be visiting the Anderson Electrical Arena on Wednesday 4th February to take on our first team in a prestige competitive friendly fixture. On Wednesday 25th February 14 times champions and probably the biggest name in women’s football, Arsenal LFC will arrive to complete what are seen as two mouth watering games within three weeks.

SSP and Derby Braves bringing NFL to City!

With American Football a growing presence in the UK we have teamed up with the Derby University Braves Team to give schools the opportunity to learn and try out a sport most people will have seen but not played. Similar to Tag Rugby, “Flag” Football is a non-contact version of the game to develop spacial awareness, teamwork and some of the basic skills of the game as well as sport transferable ones.
