Take the chance to watch and play football at St George’s Park this Summer!

This summer the Cerebral Palsy Football World Championships 2015 is to be staged at The FA’s National Football Centre, the iconic St. George’s Park in Burton Upon Trent, home to all 24 English national squads.

The Championships are taking place from Saturday 13th June – Sunday 28 June 2015 and will see the 16 qualifiers from around the world compete for the title to become World Champions. This tournament comes with an added incentive as it is also the main qualification tournament for the 2016 Paralympic Games, taking place in Rio de Janiero, Brazil.

Yr 1/2 Gymnasts have a Flippin’ Great Time!

Wednesday 29th April saw around 120 gymnasts in Years 1 and 2 converge on Mickleover Gym Club to take part in our final Gymnastics event of the year.


Taking part in 3 activities, Vault, Body Management and Floor, the children were judged out of 10 by Young Leaders from West Park School with everyone receiving a certificate and Gold, Silver and Bronze awards handed out to individual and team winners in both the morning and afternoon sessions.

SSP and DCCT Scoop League Award

Derby County Community Trust took away the ‘Johnstone’s Paint Community Club of the Year’ Award at the 10th Football League Awards on Sunday night.

The Trust, which hosts and manages Derby City School Sport Partnership, took the national title ahead of the other 72 Football League clubs.

The School Sport Partnership was put forward as this year’s ‘flagship project’ in the application that won the award.

Tournament Shows a Spike in Schools’ Volleyball

 The first ever Derbyshire Schools Volleyball Tournament has been hailed a great success with organisers delighted at the number of pupils turning out to play.

Eight school teams entered the tournament, held on Thursday 26 March at Derby Moor Community College in Littleover. The teams were mixed with the players ranging from school years 7 – 11.

The event was organised by Helen Britten and Suzy Stevenson from Darkstar, Derby’s volleyball club, who were delighted to see so many young people enjoying volleyball and the success of the afternoon meant that there will be more competitions to follow […]
