As the summer holiday approaches and the academic year comes towards its end, local and national organisations are seeking to understand the importance and delivery of PE and School Sport within Derby schools.

A Madinah School today became the first group to take part in Derby City SSP’s Cerebral Palsy Football World Championships Experience Days at St George’s Park.
The group received coaching from two FA coaches before heading over to watch the Group D match between the Netherlands and Northern Ireland. Noisy support from the Al Madinah group helped Holland to a 4-0 victory although it has to be said that Northern Ireland’s resistance was stubborn for the first 40 minutes of the 60 minute game.

A marathon day of Rounders on Thursday 18 June saw 25 teams compete across two competitions and two teams emerge victorious.
Year 5 & 6 pupils started the marathon with their annual competition at Mickleover Cricket Club. 16 teams converged to fill the outfield with Rounders action. After group stages, quarter- and semi-finals two teams remained to battle in a closely-fought final. Mickleover, who had been impressive throughout, beat Dale to take the trophy.

After winning the 2014 National Schools Championship Noel-Baker School were invited to represent England at the 23 biannual ISF World Schools Championships, this year being held in Limoge France.
With countries from across the globe, Noel-Baker School were matched up against the champions from Ireland, India and Finland in the group stages. Despite winning their first game against India 51-40 Noel-Baker then lost their next two games.
