Louis Sprints to Duathlon Victory

Our first ever Primary Schools’ Duathlon ended in a sprint finish on Wednesday, with Wren Park’s Louis Smith taking the win on the line.

The event, staged at Moorways, was the first time pupils from Derby schools have been given the chance to take part in the growing multi-event sport.

Champs Close Country Country

The 2015 Secondary Schools’ Cross Country Championships on Wednesday 11 November brought the curtain down on this year’s cross country season.

More than 1000 finishers have crossed the line during the season, with 200 completing the Moorways Championships course.

West Park were big winners, taking three of the six team titles on offer, as well as one of the individual races. Littleover also enjoyed success with two team wins and one individual victory.

Penalties See Noel Baker Home

The Under 12 Girls’ Futsal title was eventually won by Noel Baker on Thursday night after a tight and tense final with hosts Woodlands.

After the two teams remained unbeaten through the group stages their outstanding final remained goalless after normal and extra time, leaving only penalties to separate them.

As the shootout ebbed one way before the flowing the other, the two sides remained level after five penalties each. Only after two rounds of sudden death were Noel Baker able to smash home the winning penalty.

Brackensdale and Oakwood Ping Into County Finals

Our┬ábiggest ever primary schools’ table tennis tournament eventually saw Brackensdale and Oakwood Junior Schools progress to the county finals.

The two teams of four topped their groups, both remaining unbeaten throughout the tournament and Brackensdale taking a clean sweep of the matches they played. Full tables for the competition are displayed below.

We wish both teams luck and success as they progress to the Derbyshire Final on Tuesday 1 December.
