Our Paralympian of the Month for December 2015 is sprinter turned shot putter Sam Ruddock.


Sam is a great supporter of Derby City SSP having been involved in Leadership Conferences with us and regularly attending events across Derbyshire from his base at Loughborough.


Teachers and pupils can download the resource below and utilise it for work in school as well as researching other Olympians and Paralympians.

U11 Girls Football Festivals Kick Off

 With our Under 14 Girls football leagues in full swing, Thursday was the turn of the Under 11 Primary School teams to kick off their own events.

The University of Derby played host to 12 teams of girls for the first of three ‘festival’ events this academic year. These events are designed to allow girls to take part in matches against other schools and to develop skills without the pressure of tournament conditions.

Under 14 Girls Football Round-up

November 26, 2015

The opening round of fixtures have now been completed in both groups of our Under 14 Girls Football League.

13 teams have formed the two pools, with fixtures taking place at Lees Brook Community School. Each group will take part in two nights of football, with a round-robin being played on each occasion. The final tables will determine the schools taking part in the finals night on 16 December.

Professional Learning Journey: Your Route to Success

The Professional Learning Journey available for schools and teachers through Derby City SSP has been recognised by the Association for PE in their latest publication.

The Autumn edition of Physical Education Matters includes an article written by our Business Manager Jo Wilkinson which examines the opportunities available for school staff and the impact that this work has on knowledge, skills and confidence.
