Oakwood Junior School retained their status as City Mini Basketball Champions, regaining the trophy they won 12 months prior. They will be joined at County Final by Cavendish Close Junior School who denied Oakwood a clean sweep of Gold, Silver and Bronze.
After two round robin group stages, three Oakwood teams and Cavendish Close progressed to the semi finals which saw Oakwood emerge victorious once again.

Cavendish Close Junior School retained the Year 5&6 Sportshall Athletics title yesterday after an exciting day of competition at the University of Derby.
With 600 athletes from 20 schools competing across three sessions during the day, schools’ athletics took over the Kedleston Road Sports Centre for the day. The Year 5 & 6 athletes from across Derby competed in a series of races and field events, including javelin, long jump, triple jump and speed bounce.

Markeaton Primary School celebrated their School Games Mark Gold award this morning along with special guest Rammie.
Derby County’s mascot was on hand to present the school’s Sports Council with the award, which recognises the outstanding level of PE and School Sport taking place at the school.

Mickleover Gymnastics Club once again kindly hosted us as over 130 Year 3 and 4 gymnasts took part in their annual competition with the aim of qualifying for the Derbyshire School Games County Final in March.
Each gymnast took on a Floor routine, a Vault and Body Management with judges from da Vinci Community College, Landau Forte College and Chellaston Academy watching their every move.
This fantastic event, taking place in suitably excellent surroundings saw 22 teams vying to take one of the 2 available slots going forward to Erewash Gymnastics Club next month.
