Week Commencing 31/10/16

Basketball Plus

We had 5 Schools turn up to our Basketball Plus event on Tuesday; St Werburghs bringing 10 children, St Martins with 9 children, Oakwood Juniors had 10 children, Lakeside had 8 children and Alvaston Juniors brought 9 children.

They did a lot of basketball exercises to improve there play and then they played a game against the other schools. Everyone participated really well and got really stuck in on all of the games.

Well done everyone!

Week Commencing 10/10/16

Primary Cross Country Championships

In the Year 3/4 Girls race we had 30 girls running with Portway A taking first place with 26, Lawn in a close second place with 27 and Mickelover in third with 31. In the individuals race Iris Clarke was first, followed by Lucia Mulholland and Connie Shardlow coming in third place.

NQT Introduction to PE Workshops It is of concern that ITT courses fail to adequately equip trainees with the knowledge and skills necessary to deliver safe and effective Physical Education.

These workshops will cover six modules  throughout the year and will address some of the common shortcomings experienced by new teachers.

Cluster Competitions

CLUSTER COMPETITIONS
This year we are looking to create more opportunities for schools to experience competition on a more “local” level with some cluster events that will not only hopefully engage more schools in more events, but also allow pupils who don’t necessarily represent the school in sports teams to take part. This also proves relevant when looking to answer the “B and C teams” question on School Games Mark applications at Silver and Gold level!
