Derby City SSP and Derby County Community Trust Support First Ever National Writing Day!
Wednesday 21st July saw year 4 pupils from local schools head to the Riverside Centre to swat up on their writing skills for the first ever National Writing Day.
The aim of the day was to inspire children in their writing, using sport as a stimulus.

Over 1100 Young People Take Part In Celebration of Dance
The biggest annual school dance event in Derbyshire returned last week.
Thursday 9th March saw the ‘Celebration of Dance’, organised by Derby City School Sports Partnership, returned to the Riverside Centre with a Disney theme.
Celebration of Dance is the flagship annual event for Derby City SSP with more than 1100 young dancers from over 50 Derby groups attending to perform throughout the day. Dancers ranged from nursery schools to University dancers, with dance styles from street dance to ballet, bhangra to contemporary.

Ravensdale Junior School Pupil and winner of our #Road2Rio baton design competition, Charlie Rutter, yesterday got the chance to take a tour of St George’s Park and meet Jack Rutter, the captain of the England Cerebral Palsy Football Team.
Charlie’s Design won the #Road2Rio competition back in March following over 1000 entries from schools across Derby. The baton has now been printed several times with the hope that it will travel the world and hopefully make it to the Olympic and Paralympic Games in the summer.
