Week Commencing 20/03/17


Tuesday morning we had Basketball Plus at Noel Baker School, We had 5 schools attend, Oakwood Juniors, Alvaston Juniors, Noel Baker School, St Claire’s and St Martins School. All the schools had the chance to play lots of games against other teams and they got the chance to work on there pacing, shooting and dribbling skills.

Week commencing 13/03/17


Tuesday we had Quicksticks Hockey festival which 7 schools attended, Oakwood Juniors, Mickelover Primary, Ravensdale Juniors, Cherry Tree Hill Primary, Al Madinah Primary, St Mary’s Primary and Markeaton Primary. We had 14 teams in total as some teams brought more teams, everyone really enjoyed themselves and got to play every other team in there group.

Well done everyone!

POBBLE literacy through sport winners!

On Monday the 13th March, 8 children from Derby city schools won a prize to be a player escort at the Derby U23 game vs. Everton.

The winners were chosen by the teachers at their schools for the exceptional writing they produced through the POBBLE literacy through sport programme. This programme encourages children to enjoy writing using sport as a hook. Children wrote a variety of pieces of work including team talks and newspaper articles.

Over 1100 Young People Take Part In Celebration of Dance

The biggest annual school dance event in Derbyshire returned last week.

Thursday 9th March saw the ‘Celebration of Dance’, organised by Derby City School Sports Partnership, returned to the Riverside Centre with a Disney theme.

Celebration of Dance is the flagship annual event for Derby City SSP with more than 1100 young dancers from over 50 Derby groups attending to perform throughout the day. Dancers ranged from nursery schools to University dancers, with dance styles from street dance to ballet, bhangra to contemporary.
