Second National Award in Two Months

We are delighted to have won our second national award in as many months at the Association for PE annual awards last night.

The award for Outstanding Level 5/6 Centre was presented at the Association for PE’s annual awards dinner in recognition of the quality of delivery and the impact of the qualification, being delivered by us in 2014 – 2015. It follows the Football League’s Award of Community Club of the Year to Derby County Community Trust with the SSP as flagship project.

National School Sport Week 2015 in Derby City

This week has been National School Sport Week and schools in Derby City have been very busy with lots of participants covering a large range of activities in a number of locations.

 

Monday:

The week started with Ivy House School taking a tour of Markeaton Park with Cycle Derby on their fleet of adapted bikes which make the sport accessible for people with disabilities. The event was such a success that PE Co-ordinator, Kath Hampson said she is considering booking more sessions next academic year.

PE and School Sport Annual Surveys

As the summer holiday approaches and the academic year comes towards its end, local and national organisations are seeking to understand the importance and delivery of PE and School Sport within Derby schools.

 

Derbyshire PE and School Sport Survey

Locally, schools are asked to complete the Derbyshire PE and School Sport Survey. The survey is intended not only to provide data on the status of PE and School Sport across Derbyshire, but also to support schools in applying for Sainsbury’s School Games Mark.

Al Madinah meet England stars at CP World Championships

A Madinah School today became the first group to take part in Derby City SSP’s Cerebral Palsy Football World Championships Experience Days at St George’s Park.

 

The group received coaching from two FA coaches before heading over to watch the Group D match between the Netherlands and Northern Ireland. Noisy support from the Al Madinah group helped Holland to a 4-0 victory although it has to be said that Northern Ireland’s resistance was stubborn for the first 40 minutes of the 60 minute game.
